Maddie Rey On being CONFIDENT, Dwelling, and Upcoming Projects
Can a young person in this generation live a life wholly devoted to God and never stray away? We often rejoice over modern day prodigal sons who found their way home but we forget that there are those (like the older brother in the parable) who choose to remain in their father’s house all the days of their lives. Artist Maddie Rey, 20, is one of them.
Being born into a Christian home where her parents were pastors of a local church, Maddie always had a front row seat to all the miracles God would perform in the lives of those that attended their church. Between seeing the work of God’s mighty hands, and having the love and support from her parents and church family, Maddie never saw the need to stray away from God.
Instead, she decided she would continue to Dwell with God all the days of her life. Not only has ‘dwelling’ become her reality and lifestyle, but it has grown to be the foundation of her ministry and music career.
Fueled by her love for God, Maddie pastors the youth of her church all while maintaining a
Youtube channel, and making incredible music. She is certainly a woman of many gifts and talents but above all else, what distinguishes Maddie from a heap of other Christian artist is her distinctive style, her unapologetic confidence, and her highly entertaining performances.
With a recent signing to RMG AMPLIFY, and her recent collaboration with Christian Rapper Steven Malcom on the single ‘Don’t Sleep On Me’, it is clear that Maddie Rey is a powerful weapon for the kingdom that God is igniting. So don’t sleep on her!
I don’t think it’s possible to talk about Maddie Rey without bringing up the message of Dwell. Where did that come from?
Its founded on Psalms 27:4 where David said, ‘One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.’ I struggled with thinking I didn’t have a testimony since I grew up in the church but one day my dad told me, ‘Maddie, the greatest testimony you can ever have is that you never walked away from the Lord and that you’ve been in the church all the days of your life, glorifying God and serving him.” I really loved that and I’ve been using that to really empower young people that grew up in the church but feel like they don’t have a significant testimony.
