Goodbye Summer! Hello New Fall Fashion

Fall is undeniably the best of the four seasons for fashion. The air is crisp, the trees are turning all shades of yellow and orange, and the best of all, we get to change our wardrobe.

As we enter Fall season: apple picking, leaves falling, Pumpkin Spice Latte shortage, we also enter the Fall fashion mode–which in my opinion, is the best season to express your fashion.

What I love the most about the wonderful world of fashion is that, although there are trends, we do not have to conform to all of them–I’m talking to you, bike shorts craze. Leave the bike shorts behind. There are still many items in your closet that can go from warm weather to sweater weather in no time.

You can’t go wrong with oversized sweaters, leggings, and over-the-knee boots. However, if you’re tired of the same blasé look every year, and not quite ready to let go of your summer items just yet, here are a few tips on how to turn your Summer items into Fall must haves:

Tied Front Duster Jacket

One in every three people I saw this summer had a duster jacket. Why? Because it’s comfortable, light weight, stylish and easy to use. So if you have a duster jacket, don’t put this item away just yet! Pair it with leggings, over the knee boots, and a scarf and you’ll turn heads. If it’s chilly enough, go for a fur vest on top. Mama Mia, this couldn’t get any chic-er.

Jumpsuit

Ah, the love/hate relationship with jumpsuits continues. It’s the easiest thing you can pull out of your closet for an elegant look, yet the most dreadful outfit to wear if you have to use the bathroom.

The struggle is real…but…

Jumpsuits are elegant pieces that go with anything and everything. It’s an easy option that you can dress up or dress down, depending on the occasion. You can pair your jumpsuit with a leather jacket and booties for a Friday night edgy look. You can also add a pair of pumps and a blazer for a corporate look. Whichever look you’re going for, always remember to accessorize! Big earrings and oversized clutch would be my picks.

Florals

Florals for Spring? Groundbreaking.

Although florals scream Spring and can put you in the mind of of Easter Sunday attire, you can still make it work for the fall season. There are really cool ways to mix and match floral print with sweaters and jackets to look like you just left a RTW runway in Paris–très chic, non?

If you have a flowy skirt or  dress, grab a darker color sweater and pair it with a statement belt. This is a perfect, comfortable look to wear to work, and even out to dinner with friends.

Remember, whichever Summer in the Fall style you may be pulling this season, always wear it with confidence. For some, it can be hard to step out of your shell and wear something “daring” and “different,” like your favorite summery pants on a fall Wednesday morning. But be bold and confident–no one ever turns heads by wearing the same thing as everyone else.
