Ciara: ‘It Took a Lot of Prayer’ To Save Sex For Marriage
It is no secret that Ciara and her beau Russel Wilson decided to remain abstinent during their two year long courting stage. Recently however, in an interview with Instyle, Ciara reveals that keeping the goodies in the jar was no easy feat.
“That took a lot of prayer,” she tells the magazine. “It was hard. I can’t lie.”
After calling off the engagement to rapper Future, (and father of her first child), Ciara finally had a wake up call that led her to start praying and “get herself right” as she puts it.
“You shouldn’t feel like you have to give your body away to get someone to like you,” she explained, adding that “it’s important to have standards. My heart, soul, spirit, and mind just desired to be loved. To be truly loved the right way. I knew I didn’t want to cry tears of hurt anymore,” she says. “I didn’t want to keep going around in circles.”
It may have been hard in the beginning but the celebrity couple continues to honor God in their relationship. They never shy away from publicly and boldly sharing on their faith in Christ as seen in this recent Instagram post by Ciara. Here, they let readers in on their visit to the Christ redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. “A family that prays together.” the caption reads.

Three years later and they still continue to pray together and keep Christ at the center of their lives.
