Beauty Doesn’t Have to Hurt: Cruelty-Free Skincare

Every girl loves a good skincare routine! As I dove into this year, I decided to make skin care a priority in my routine. However, I wanted my skin care routine to be 100% vegan. A couple months ago, I honestly didn’t know what a “vegan” skin care routine included or what it meant. Vegan products do not include any ingredients from animals AND vegan products are never tested on animals. You may have noticed that these products are called “cruelty free” products and each product will have a bunny symbol that indicates that it is indeed cruelty free. Here are the best vegan, cruelty free skin care products that I have came across so far on my journey.

Organik Botanik Australia Coconut Water Face Mist with Rose

This face mist is a gentle moisturizer and could be used after washing your face in the morning and at night. On top of being a moisturizer, it also acts as a natural and gentle toner for the skin. The Coconut moisturizes and the rose tones. This is also a great product for sensitive skin. You can easily purchase this international brand at TJ Maxx stores for only $3.99 (6.76 fluid ounces). For fresh and radiant skin This is totally an essential.

Shea Moisture African Black Soap Clarifying Facial Mask

This mask, as well as the entire Shea Moisture product line, has been gaining popularity for very good reasons. All of Shea Moisture’s products are not only cruelty free, but they are all certified organic! Each product uses natural, plant derived ingredients, like Tamarind Extract, Tea Tree Oil, and Aloe Leaf Juice. This product and the whole line can be found in most supermarkets and drugstores, such as Walmart and Walgreens. Walmart sells this product for $11.97 (4 ounces). This product is amazing for blemish prone, sensitive skin. Use this 1-2 times a week to clarify skin.

Purity One-Step Facial Cleanser

Purity made by Philosophy is one of the most talked about beauty product in the skin care world and for very good reasons. This is a seriously gentle cleanser that has a golden reputation. This product is fragrance-free, deep cleaning, and contains many natural extracts to condition the skin. Natural is the new black, right? Their brand built on simplicity is definitely a keeper. This product is sold at many beauty stores, like Ulta and Sephora for $24 (8 fluid ounces). Use this 1-2 a day for the best results.

Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Organic Soap

The best of the best is saved for last! This versatile, fair trade, certified vegan product is a crowd favorite. This magical soap can be used on not only your face, but also can be used for cleaning around the house (after a dilution process that can be found on the bottle). There are many flavors of this great soap yet they all have the same great benefits of a squeaky clean face. as if all these benefits weren’t enough, the best part of this castile soap, is that Even the bottle showcases the Eternal Father. Yup, this brand is proud of their faith, and they are unashamed! You can buy 16 fluid ounces for $10.79 at any Target.

Remember, beauty doesn’t have to hurt you or any other creature with unsafe, unethical practices. You are beautiful in every way. You are fearfully and wonderfully made.
